Thank you to Ian Moore, Chris Tilley and the whole team at the Fire Industry Association for an excellent AGM in London last week.
Working with industry experts, the FIA continues to raise the bar, conscientiously striving to improve fire safety across the whole industry.
It was great to learn about some of the new innovations and initiatives that the FIA are implementing to help to ensure their members are amongst the most expertly trained individuals and appropriately qualified companies in the fire industry.
Mark Wheeler, Managing Director of EA-RS Fire Engineering Ltd was pleased to have retained his seat on the Extinguishing Council and Deane Sales, Group National Sales Manager was delighted to have secured a seat on the Services Council.
Joshua Wheal, Mergers and Acquisitions Strategy Manager and Jason Clitheroe, Operations Director also attended and found the day to be both interesting and insightful.
Extinguishing Council
The FIA Extinguishing Council represents the product manufacturers and suppliers of fire extinguishing and fire fighting equipment.
This includes gaseous, foam, watermist systems, portable extinguishers and similar hardware.
The Council’s key role is to present the collective views of this sector of the industry, including negotiation and discussion with government and other external bodies.
As well as representing members’ interests, the Council monitors and influences the development of relevant standards, legislation and regulations. It also commissions research.
In addition, it provides guidance for product¬-related marketing, communications and training issues.
Services Council
The FIA Services Council represents the companies which design, install, commission and maintain fire detection and alarm systems and fire extinguishing products and systems.
The Council’s key role is to present the collective views of this sector of the industry, including negotiation and discussion with government and other external bodies.
As well as representing members’ interests, the Council monitors and influences the development of relevant standards, legislation and regulations. It also commissions research.
In addition, it provides guidance for product¬-related marketing, communications and training issues.
Both councils are made up of 15 elected members representing small, medium and larger FIA member companies.
