Since founding the EA-RS business in 1996, Alan Wheal has led the company as CEO, achieving exceptional growth and steering the Group to become one of the market leaders in Fire and Life Safety. Over the last 28 years, Alan has inspired the industry, provoking thought leadership and progressive change in delivery and innovation, acquiring brilliant customer-centric businesses across the UK that would all come together to support the Group’s One Solution strategy. EA-RS is working with best-in-class end user clients and Tier 1 Contractors who put quality and safety at the forefront of their servicing and procurement requirements.

In 2013, Mark Wheeler joined EA-RS Fire Engineering (the foundation business for the, soon to be EA-RS Group) as a Service Manager when revenues were c. £8 million, having started out in the industry some 30 years ago as an apprentice engineer. With a career built on the foundations of a range of operations roles including Project Management, Mark is uncompromising in his pursuit of operational excellence and delivery.  Mark’s 11 years at EA-RS has seen him progress with increasing success through various roles culminating in his appointment to the Group Board as Group COO after the private equity and debt investment from Rockpool, RCL and Ares. Together, Mark and Alan have achieved business success both organically and through acquisition to build the £90m+ Group we are today, with more than 500 members of staff and operations across England and Northern Ireland.

Today, we are pleased to announce Mark’s promotion to Group CEO. This strategic move, which has been years in the planning, will see Alan move to a new role as Founder and President. Alan will remain a significant part of the business as a Group Board Director, continuing to drive the development of the EA-RS Academy and working as an ambassador for the Group meeting our valued clients, supply chain partners and future acquisition targets to discuss our Group offering and One Solution strategy.

Alan Wheal said:

“Huge congratulations to Mark, on this much anticipated and well-deserved step. It has been a privilege to work so closely with him as he has progressed through the leadership ranks in the group and as he steps up to the role of Group CEO. The Group has an outstanding future ahead of it with Mark at the helm and I look forward to supporting him in this next phase of EA-RS’ growth and evolution.”

Mark Wheeler has commented,

“It is with immense pride and thanks for the outstanding efforts of every member of the EA-RS team that I move into the role of CEO for our phenomenal business. After joining EA-RS in 2013, I have developed personally and professionally under the leadership, mentoring and coaching of Alan Wheal and Dave Watson to now be in the privileged position to lead the business and its amazing team. I have been passionate about delivering life safety systems ever since starting in the industry in 1996. Protecting the lives and assets of people both at work, at home and at play will continue to drive the EA-RS Group to be the very best in the industry.”
